Information for patients

BEWARE OF SCAMMERS during the pandemic

There is heightened coverage around the recent Coronavirus outbreak around the world, which is now severely impacting on the UK and the NHS.

Unfortunately fraudsters are targeting these circumstances to take advantage of public fear and concern

We have been made aware that our patients are receiving phone calls, texts and letters from fraudsters. They will try and obtain your personal details and in particular your NHS number.

Scammers are sophisticated, opportunistic and will try many ways to get the information they want. They often target the vulnerable.

If you are suspicious, do not give any details over the phone, hang up and then ring your GP Practice to confirm.

Health and Wellbeing Service

South Worcestershire GPs are offering a new service for their patients through the Improved Access appointments.

This service supports patients with learning more about healthy eating, weight management and improving your diet as well as supporting patients with stress management.

The sessions run on a Tuesday evening 6.30pm – 7.30pm at Farrier House Surgery, Worcester.

Weight Management Clinics

These sessions are for all ages focusing on healthy eating, reading food labels and having a balanced diet. There is the option of a weekly weigh in, but please be assured you can opt out of this!

You will be given advice and information on healthy eating and how to lose weight. This may include a referral to the local gym, local walking groups, exercise classes, or what they can do for free in their home. It will also include information on how to eat healthily including the balanced plate.

One patient said the service and lifestyle Officer is "very friendly and encouraging."

Stress Management Clinics

This service is here to support patients who may be feeling overwhelmed with everyday life’s stresses and strains.

The sessions focus on techniques and strategies for identifying stress, and then how to manage that stress.

One patient commented: “I’m so glad this service is available on the NHS. I have a lot of stress, worry and anxiety in my life and don’t know how to resolve it or cope with it apart from medication. I love using this holistic approach.”

If you would like to attend one of these sessions please contact your GP surgery who can refer you.
